The people with disabilities

Information for people with disabilities

 Information about the way of adjusting conditions and format of conducted certificate exams in Polish as a foreign language are intended for candidates who:

  • are disabled and possess a medical certificate about their disability,
  • are temporary ill or disabled, holding a medical certificate issued by a doctor,
  • have learning disabilities confirmed by an opinion from a psychological and pedagogical counseling center.

The types of accommodations available depend on the examinee’s type of disability. This includes examinees who are:

  • visually impaired
  • hard of hearing
  • with mobility disability (including temporary ones)
  • speech impairment (stuttering, slowed speech)
  • chronic illnesses
  • disgraphic and disorthographic

Adjusting the conditions and format of conducting the certificate exams in Polish as a foreign language may involve:

  • extended time during written and/or oral exam,
  • allowing the use of specialized equipment and technical devices during the exam,
  • adjusting the exam location to accommodate the needs and type of disability.

Examinees who intend to exercise their right to take the exam in adjusted to their need conditions and form must submit an appropriate application to the chairperson of the examination board at the chosen institution, no later than a month before the date of the exam. The application must be accompanied by a certificate of their disability issued by a medical commission.

The chairperson of the examination board, after confirming completeness of documents submitted by the examinee, informs the Secretariat of the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language about the need to adjust the examination paper.
